About Ember

About Ember

Ember is a beautiful dog! We all said it as soon as we laid eyes no her even though she was skin and bone, with scratches on her poor muzzle. This girl can’t help being gorgeous!

Ember is one of 5 dogs who were surrendered by their owners (hunters) to an overfull village pound. The hunters decided they had no further “use” for these poor dogs and they were just unceremoniously disposed of…

Ember has been with us for a few weeks now and she’s only got more beautiful. All 5 of the dogs that were surrendered that day are wary of people. It’s clear that they have seen the darker side of humans and we are working hard to show them that we’re not all bad. Ember isn’t a fearful dog, just wary. Once she knows you and knows that you’re a friend she relaxes.

This gorgeous girl loves to follow her nose around the yard, tail held high while she explores. It’s lovely to see her enjoying herself. She’s also learning about toys and balls and will pick up a ball or toy and trot along proudly with it in her mouth.

Ember also loves cuddles and will stretch out alongside us for strokes and belly rubs. She really leans in for a good cuddle and snuggle… more than likely something that is quite new to her. But definitely very welcome!

From what we’ve seen so far, Ember doesn’t have issues with other dogs. She was probably kenneled with other hunting dogs in her “previous life”. We think that with careful introductions, Ember could join a home with another resident dog. Since she is a trained hunting dog, we wouldn’t suggest a home with cats or other small creatures.
