Floyd
About Floyd
This gentle boy is one of the 3 dogs that we agreed to help when their owner tragically passed away in July aged just 55 💔 Her 3 dogs were her babies and her daughter asked us to help find them new, loving homes.
Floyd was initially shocked to be in the busy sanctuary environment. He is the oldest of the 3 dogs and it must have been a huge adjustment for him after the safety and security of his home.
However, this lovely boy has now settled in and we’re seeing more and more of his true character. And we love it!
Floyd makes us laugh regularly. If you stand outside his kennel without giving him attention he will make sure to let you know that you should be petting him! And if you’re holding a treat that he thinks is rightfully his he will again say “hello! I believe that’s mine”! He’s a funny, clever boy.
The thing that really makes us laugh is what he does with his back legs when you scratch his bum. He loves a bottom scratch and will stomp his back legs as you’re doing it, often collapsing completely head first in enjoyment. He has charmed many sanctuary visitors with this funny display.
One of the things that Floyd seems to miss the most about living in a home, is going on a walk. The moment we put a lead on him, he’s straight to the gate as he clearly enjoyed walks in his previous home.
Floyd lived with two other dogs in his home so we would assume that he could join a home with another resident dog. However, he is approaching a “senior” age and may have some foibles and preferences. We took him for a walk with Primrose, one of our more active female dogs and he behaved beautifully. He will also go say hello to the new puppy at the Sanctuary every time he is let out. With careful introduction we’re sure that Floyd will be happy to have another doggy friend. He would equally be happy as an only dog.
We think that this gorgeous, teddy bear of a dog would make a wonderful companion for someone and might appreciate a quite home. He will be good company and not very demanding. Just some bottom scritches and some gentle walks, a comfy bed to snooze in and he’ll be happy as larry!
