Steve
About Steve
We will never forget the way that Steve looked when they rescued him from the pound. It wasn't just that he was so terribly emaciated, it was that he looked so defeated and broken 💔
A couple of weeks at the sanctuary later and this beautiful English Pointer had put on weight, started to wag his tail and was standing that little bit taller.
He continued to improve and gain confidence, but we could see that his spirit wouldn't fully recover until he was in a home. Once again we sought the help of a foster home that has offered salvation to so many of our rescues over the years.
Almost as soon as he arrived in his foster home we were amazed. Steve relaxed! He slept, he explored the garden, he wagged his tail, he slept some more... It was beautiful to see!
Steve has been allowed to take everything at his own pace and this was absolutely crucial. He was very happy in his new environment and loved the company of the other dogs and humans in his foster home, but he didn’t want to go out into the big bad world. That was just fine! He had a garden that he ran around and explored and he was safe and happy.
Now, after 3 months in his foster home, Steve is able to enjoy a visit to the enclosed field with his friends and the videos of him bounding around with his tail wagging, enjoying all the smells made us all tear up with joy! He’s also managed a little walk down the lane.
Steve is still happiest in the house and garden and he loves his humans and loves his doggy foster siblings. No doubt when he moves to his forever home he will need a period of adjustment but once settled he will continue to grow in confidence and to enjoy life!
Steve would definitely prefer a home with another resident dog or dogs and he is fine with cats as well. If you would like more information about him, his foster family will be more than happy to talk to you and arrange a meeting.
