About Oscar

About Oscar

Oscar joined our Sanctuary with his friend Yennefer earlier in the year. We are helping out a dear friend and rescuer extraordinaire who has been trying to rehome this sweet boy since she rescued him in 2021, when he survived one of the worst fires that Cyprus has ever seen.

His companion Yennefer travelled to the UK recently and we’re hoping that Oscar is not far behind. He really would thrive in a home where he can have a comfy bed to call his own.

Oscar was born with a malformed back leg and was likely no use to the hunter who owned him and was sadly discarded. Fortunate for him, he was found by our dear friend and blossomed. Whilst under her care he made friends with all of the other dogs and cats in her home.

Despite missing one of his back feet, Oscar has no problem walking or running and you likely wouldn’t even notice he was missing a foot. He walks well on a lead and gets on with other dogs. He could happily join a home with dog savvy children, especially if they have hotdog sausages 😆

It’s time for this boy to find his forever family and live a life of comfort and love!

Oscar’s story is one of resilience. Rescued in 2021 after surviving the devastating Cyprus fires and born with a deformed a back foot that later had to be amputated. None of this holds him back. Oscar runs, walks, and enjoys life just like any other dog.

He is incredibly sweet and friendly with everyone he meets, although he can be a little nervous when he first meets you. He adores other dogs and would happily share his home with a canine companion. He’s even lived alongside cats before.

He’s settling into home life at his foster home. He can be a little unsure around loud or unexpected noises, his confidence is growing day by day. He loves his walks, gets excited to meet other dogs (always hoping for a play!), and is learning to walk nicely on the lead.

Oscar knows his name, has good recall in a secure field, and is both eager and gentle when it comes to treats. He’s polite at mealtimes, sleeps through the night, and can be left for short periods with other dogs without any issues.

Most of all, Oscar loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa for a cuddle 🥰

We think he would thrive in a calm, loving home—potentially with dog-savvy children—and a comfy bed to call his own. After everything he’s been through, Oscar truly deserves a life full of love, comfort, and happiness.
