Would encourage anyone considering adopting a puppy/dog from Cyprus through this charity to 100% go for it. I can’t fault SPDC - the whole process was easy and informative and the support and interest from SPDC continues today - we are 7 months into our adoption.

I adopted my mega mutt Lottie through SPDC and as with any adoption there can be difficulties along the way but SPDC stay by your side throughout the entire journey. Even after you’ve adopted they provide advice and support - I have had Lottie for over 4 years now and they still willingly help and advise me whenever I need it. They genuinely care about every dog. We have now adopted a second dog through them and highly recommend them as a charity who genuinely care and will be there for you and your dog. It’s like joining a whole new family and we also follow lots of dogs and their stories on SPDC’s ‘I’ve adopted’ page.

My Bear girly came to me in 2015 then six months later my boy Barney arrived.
Fantastic rescue which to this day in 2020 I’m in touch with and occasionally send photos. Never had any problems the flights the collection arrangements were great. Apart from annual vaccinations not had any medical problems with either of them. Just fabulous babes.

We fostered a puppy (9 mo) from SPDC in 2016. We'd seen a friend's posts on Facebook doing the same and as huge animal-lovers we wanted to do our bit and help. The support we received from SPDC was incredible. We were kept up to date at all times throughout the process, and when our little Toby arrived, they were there to help and advise when we needed it. With SPDC's help, we found Toby his perfect forever home within 3 months. By then, we had fallen in love with him but with 8 furries of our own, it was always our intention to foster; especially as fosters are the link that allows the dogs to leave the pound or sanctuary to allow more dogs to be taken in. A huge thank you to the team behind SPDC! You do an AMAZING job X

A year ago we picked up our puppy Phoenix. The process was quite straightforward and well explained. He arrived following a long journey, a little scared and very hungry. He took a little chicken, wee’d in the car then tried to drive home! Since then he’s been a joy, healthy, happy and adorable. I wouldn’t hesitate in adopting from SPDC again and thoroughly recommend them.

The volunteers are all amazing. I had to deal with Abigail and Thea who made the process very easy and were keeping in touch from the moment we showed interest to the moment we adopted them and now almost a year later we still talk. They are all amazing people and the dogs at this shelter are the luckiest doggies cause they will find them amazing families.

This group of volunteers do wonderful work. I got my dog Muffin from them 18 months ago at 5 months old. She was desperately ill when they found her and they saved her life. They give advice any time it's needed and they have very good back up. Highly recommend them. Adopt don't shop!

I couldn't be more in love with the Pointador Puppy we adopted from SPDC. From start to finish the process was smooth and the team were all very helpful with all questions, queries and worries we had along the way! Very professional, loving, caring people and couldn't be happier. Will be adopting from here again when the time is right :)

I adopted my lovely dog Lettie in 2019. the process was very easy and quick and once we had our home check we were able to bring her home. She is the sweetest girl, so well behaved, she can be left at home if necessary, she just sleeps in a sunny spot, loves being in the car and we take her everywhere with us. Adopting Lettie is the best thing we have done, we adore her. if you are thinking of adopting a dog, SPDC is definitely the right charity to choose.

Excellent group dedicated to animal welfare. Through SPDC I found the most perfect little terrier who is perfect for us. We had fantastic support throughout the adoption process. SPDC are an amazing group of people who are dedicated to their cause. If I should ever have room for another dog I won't hesitate to contact them and couldn't recommend them enough!!

This is Luus rescued in 2014 from killing station by SPDC. She is 7 years with us in Holland now. SPDC is a great organization…always willing to give advice., still in contact after all those years. If you consider to adopt a dog, contact them…we have never regret it.

My family and I adopted a from SPDC and we definitely recommend them, the two ladies called Katy and Constantina that dealt with us were so friendly and helpful. SPDC is in good condition. If you are interested in a dog the ladies will be very happy to show and introduce you to the dog and tell you about the dog. SPDC is very organized in general.

SPDC are amazing from start to (there is no finish!) They're there to support you even after the adoption process, as they truly care that the dogs go on to live their best lives! I can't thank them enough for allowing us to have Ziggy, we couldn't imagine life without him! And I certainly can't imagine him living life on the streets which sadly would've been his reality without SPDC! Don't think twice about rescuing a dog with them, they keep you updated on everything before you get your dog and the process is so smooth and well organised! Couldn't recommend enough 🌟

Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus is a great non profit organisation who save dogs from the pounds. ..also dogs thrown over the fence or wandering the streets are taking care of. We are the lucky ones to have a dog saved by them for two years now...the volunteers of SPDC are still interested in our doggie. The rescue dogs will be family for them for always. Thank you all!

I have 2 dogs from SPDC. The first in 2015 and second in 2023. Both experiences were positive and so easy, SPDC communication is fantastic and someone is always on hand to answer questions.

Amazing in every way. We adopted the most wonderful dog, our sweet Allan, and they were so responsible, supportive and a very trustworthy organisation and they work for the best for the dogs and the best for the families who adopt.

We have adopted 2 rottweiler x from SPDC. 1 a puppy and 1 an older dog.
They are wonderful. So loyal and loveable. 4 years on , healthy, happy dogs who just fitted into our family from day 1.
The adoption process was thorough but stress free for humans and dogs alike.
2 years ago we moved with the dogs to France . We bought a van to transport them and drove the whole journey with them. We had to wake them up for loo breaks !!
I would recommend anyone looking to rescue to check out the wonderful dogs at SPDC.

We adopted Kiwi from SPDC in June this year. The Sanctuary have been fantastic for every step of Kiwi’s journey. We were put in touch with a lovely volunteer, Lisa, in the UK who we chatted to in a video call and who was able to answer all our questions about adopting. Since Kiwi arrived we have had support from Lisa and also Katy, a volunteer at the Sanctuary who knew Kiwi in Cyprus. I know that I can message them at any time on WhatsApp if I have any questions. SPDC care passionately about the dogs that they rescue and take care of, and are so proactive in trying to find forever homes for them 🥰

Three weeks ago my mum adopted this beautiful little man. He is the most affectionate, fun and cheeky chap! He’s settled in to family life with our dogs and my 6 year old daughter - they are thick as thieves!
Abigail (our charity contact person) could not have been more helpful in matching my mum with the right dog. Nothing was too much trouble.
Every step of the process was easy, everyone my mum had contact with was superb. It is clear that it is incredibly important that the dogs are rehomed safely and permanently. Their welfare is the top priority.
So happy to have ‘Stavros’ (was ‘Homer’) in our family!!

SPDC is an incredible rescue association in Cyprus who rescue the most vulnerable- they care for them and prepare them for adoption. Tirelessly they hold on to a hope for every dog they take under their wings and never give up.

Just adopted Max from the SPDC, wonderful communication process throughout. Deanna is great and the transport from cyprus to the Uk was spot on, a few delays but it was handled brilliantly. Couldn’t of asked for a better process. Most importantly Thankyou for bringing us Max x

I rescued my little Cyprus Poodle Buddy from SPDC a few years ago and from the get go they were so supportive, constantly updating me on his progress and I received beautiful photos of him with his fosterer to reassure me he was ok. They kept me updated right up until he arrived at Scotland to us and even months after I still got messages to see how he was. This is an amazing charity 100% dedicated to the welfare of these dogs and I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to a potential adoptee.

We adopted our boy Oscar from this rescue, great communication and ongoing support including proper back up. Highly recommended.

The lovely people at SPDC not only save the poor pupsters. They give you constant updates in pups and kennels. They do a outstanding job.
Dante joined us over a yr ago. He slotted right in. The SPDC team have done a fabulous job with him. He is a happy all rounded woofer. The support, aftercare and all of the SPDC family are a font of knowledge if needed. I can not recommend them enough if you are looking for a rescue dog.

We have rescued the most beautiful girl Jessie from the team at SPDC. She’s the most lovely natured dog and they were able to match her to us perfectly (we have another dog and a baby!). We reached out for a couple of the other dogs as we thought they could be a good match, but when they mentioned Jessie and all her traits, we all quickly realised she’d be the best match! Transport, documentation etc. was all quick and easy to deal with, and we’re so happy to have Jessie in our family now!

Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus is an amazing charity looking after and rehoming many abandoned dogs. I am lucky enough to have been able to adopt this wonderful boy. SPDC is run by a group of wonderfully compassionate and dedicated carers with the help of equally dedicated fosterers. My dog is amazingly well adjusted despite his awful start in life which is testament to just how much work and care the people of SPDC put into saving and rehoming their much deserving dogs.

I was a bit sceptical adopting from abroad, but I needn’t be. SPDC have been amazing. I had the pleasure of going to the actual shelter in April whilst on holiday… you can see how much they love their animals and care for them so well. Katy and Suhair were my main contacts and were so supportive and answered all my questions before adopting. They allowed me to join the adoption FB group where people post their doggy pics and ask for advice… all adopters were very happy and I felt reassured about the whole process. Frankie was just as I had seen in him his videos and photos. I could tell that he had a wonderful temperament. He settled in nicely and he is completely my baby now! I had one incident where I needed some advice and Deana kindly helped. There is something magical about Cyprus dogs. 2 years on and I still feel like part of the SPDC family. You would not get this from UK rescues. I was home checked on a video interview, and they were realistic with their decision to let my adopt even though I have children. Again, this is made so much harder in the UK. Frankie had all his jabs, passport, neutered and flight for half the price you’d pay for puppy! Adopt don’t shop! You’ll find rescue dogs are the best. You couldn’t get better than SPDC. X

They go above and beyond for the dogs they rescue. The adoption process is super easy, you get updates, videos & photos of your dog throughout.

I adopted my dog from them 2 years ago and they are ALWAYS available to offer support! The online group for adopters is also fantastic.

They have successfully rehomed so many lovely dogs. Adopt don't shop!!

A bit over two Years ago, I had my first touch points with SDPC trying to adopt my first dog. They were tough in a really good way. They met me in person and provided a smooth transport for the dog flying from Greece to Berlin. My dog was vaccinated, chipped, neutered, and had a passport. He arrived in both a good health and mental condition. I know, I got lucky with my dog 😉 But I cannot praise the SPDC team enough. They stayed in touch with me and shared experience & tips when I needed advice. SPDC cares about the well being of their rescues and want to provide them with a bright future.

Excellent rescue, I have adopted 3 dogs from them over the last 7 years. The U.K. charity guides you through the whole process & is always on hand to help even years after adoption.

We adopted Aelin almost two months ago now and we couldn’t imagine life without her! She is a gentle but playful soul who has slotted in to our family, like a missing jigsaw piece.
The communication from SPDC is second to none with friendly and efficient responses; we were able to give feedback to the team and it was amazing to connect with those who looked after Aelin in Cyprus. We are still in touch with Aelins foster mummy and have had a huge amount of support from everyone. Thank you SPDC for everything, maybe we’ll do it all over again one day! (Don’t tell the hubby I said that though!)

I have been fostering dogs through SPDC for 2 years now - they're a wonderful, supportive team who really care so much about the rescue and welfare of their Cyprus rescue dogs.

I found the love of my life with SPDC Cyprus/Rescue UK. Nice and friendly people. They keep you posted about everything you need to know: health of the animals, their behaviour, what they know, the flight here, how to collect..really glad my friend referred me to them!!

The SPDC volunteers are absolutely amazing and so dedicated in achieving the best for all the dogs in their care. Our adoption process was so easy and they helped every step of the way. I would not hesitate to recommend SPDC to anyone thinking of getting a dog.

I researched SPDC thoroughly before I adopted my dog from the charity in 2016. I previously worked with the charity sector in the UK for 12 years so I was careful to ensure that SPDC was a registered charity and that all the processes and ethics were what I expected them to be. I wasn't disappointed. I have found SPDC to be the most wonderful, ethical and trustworthy rescue that places the care and love of the dogs they look after above anything else which is as it should be. The charity is so close to my heart that I've written the story of adopting my dog on their website and I recommend them to anyone thinking of rescuing a dog from Cyprus. If you are hesitating because you're not sure if they are a "proper" organisation, don't. They are, and they are so much more than that too. The people behind the charity are angels on this earth.

Everything was seamless in the adoption process from my initial enquiry to my wonderful Hector Hound arriving. I was kept updated with photos and videos in the few weeks it took to fly him over to the UK. I felt as though I wasn’t missing any of him growing up (he was just a puppy and as we know they change very quickly)!

There was complete honesty and transparency from the Cyprus contacts and Charlotte in the UK was simply lovely while we did the home check via FaceTime and has been very supportive ever since. You are not alone once your dog arrives - far from it, expect to be part of the SPDC family forever.

Hector was so well socialised with other dogs due to the number he was with and still retains that awareness today (2 years later).

The support from the team when you hit any issues is there and they warmth and love from the fellow adopters is absolutely priceless. We all love each other’s SPDC dogs (almost) as much as our own.

SPDC is a wonderful charity run by a team of devoted, caring and knowledgeable volunteers. They save dogs from municipal kill pounds and care for them with the upmost love until they are adopted. We adopted our dog form them and are incredibly happy we did! From the very beginning they were supportive, professional and communication was great. They keep in touch after the adoption, which is great and shows how much they care for every single dog they save. Highly recommended to anybody wishing to give an abandoned dog a loving home!

I had excellent communication with information and photos of the little Min Pin I was adopting. The adoption was straight forward and she arrived at Manchester Airport as arranged. She was the best little dog I ever had, all she wanted was love and she got lots of it. She was an older dog and I was happy to make her remaining time the best. She adapted to everything without fuss accepting my cats, horse and chickens without a second glance. The ladies from SPDC are like family and we are still in touch. I wouldn't hesitate to adopt a dog from SPDC again.
