Olive
About Olive
On April 1st Constantina received a desperate call about 2 puppies. A man was asking for help to catch them as they were skin and bone and covered in enormous ticks. When she came back to the sanctuary with the first puppy we were in shock, the poor girl was in a terrible condition and being eaten alive by the most enormous ticks any of us had seen. That was Olive’s sister and sadly, despite our vets best efforts, she didn’t survive.
Constantina went straight back to catch her sister, Olive and we were relived to see that even though she too was skeletal and very dehydrated, she had less ticks on her. Olive was nursed back to health by Constantina at home and when she was strong enough she moved to the Nicosia sanctuary.
This gorgeous girl is getting stronger and more beautiful every day. She was understandably a little cautious of humans to start with, but she’s growing in confidence. We’re sure that once she’s in a home she will continue to blossom. She wags her tail happily and is learning that we are her friends.
Olive might benefit from going to a home with another resident dog, to help her confidence. But this isn’t a must. As long as her family are prepared to give her time and space to gain their trust, she will be just fine. She’s just a puppy and it won’t take her long to bond with her humans.
We’re not sure what mix of breeds Olive is, but there might be some lab, pointer or hound in the mix. Someone said that her beautiful colouring is like a Palomino horse and it really is, with that gorgeous gold colour and the white stripe down her nose.
Olive is one lucky pup and she’s ready for her life to get even better! Would you like to be the one to make that happen?
